Terre des hommes Foundation – Lausanne rehabilitating and equipping a Child-friendly Waiting Room at the Sharia Sunni Court in Beirut.
In partnership with UNICEF, Terre des hommes Foundation – Lausanne (Tdh) has rehabilitated and equipped a child-friendly waiting room at the Sharia Sunni Court in Beirut.
This room was officially opened on Thursday, September 23rd in the presence of the Head of the Sunni Court – Al Shaykh / Judge Mohamed Assaf, and other Sheikhs judges, in addition to the participation of UNICEF and local partners.
The child-friendly waiting room was rehabilitated and equipped for children accompanying their parents or caregivers coming to attend a proceeding at the court. The main objective of the child-friendly waiting room is to ensure that children are not exposed to violent parental disputes and have available a suitable, age-appropriate space for children who might need to testify, declare or attend a hearing with the judges. Children in the waiting room will be accompanied by social workers and child protection professionals to guarantee that the maximum standards for protection in justice proceedings are met at all times.
The Beirut Sunni court put at Tdh’s disposition the room, a surface of around 18 m2. The room is designed to accommodate children of all ages, to serve as a place to rest, read, perform activities, and play, as well as a place that can be used in the future for psychosocial activities. The door is transparent to guarantee constant parental control and prevent any type of abuse. The colors of the walls are pale to comfort the child, with a painting on one of the walls. The room is equipped with a medical aid kit, education books (in 3 languages), educational toys, and stationery from drawing, handcraft activities, etc.

جعل عدالة الطفل حقيقة واقعة في لبنان…
إن منظمة Terre des hommes – لوزان تعيد تأهيل وتجهيز غرفة انتظار صديقة للطفل في المحكمة الشرعية السنيّة في بيروت.
بالشراكة من اليونيسف، قامت منظمة Terre des hommes Foundation – Lausanne (Tdh) بإعادة تأهيل وتجهيز غرفة انتظار صديقة للطفل في المحكمة الشرعية السنيّة في بيروت.
تمّ إفتتاح هذه الغرفة يوم الخميس 23 من أيلول بحضور سماحة رئيس المحكمة السنيّة العُليا في بيروت الشيخ محمد عسّاف وعدد من الشيوخ القضاة بالإضافة إلى مشاركة اليونيسف وشركاء محليين.
تم إعادة تأهيل غرفة الانتظار الصديقة للأطفال وتجهيزها للأطفال المرافقين لوالديهم أو مقدمي الرعاية القادمين لحضور دعوى في المحكمة. الهدف الرئيسي للغرفة هو تجنب تعرض الأطفال لنزاعات أبوية عنيفة وإيجاد مكان ملائم ومناسب لكل فئة عمرية، في حال احتاج الأطفال الى إعطاء شهادتهم/القيام بإدلاءات أو احتاجوا بأن يستمع إليهم القاضي. وسيرافق الأطفال في غرفة الانتظار أخصائيون اجتماعيون ومهنيون في مجال حماية الطفل لضمان استيفاء المعايير القصوى للحماية في الإجراءات القضائية في جميع الأوقات.
وقد وضعت محكمة بيروت السنيّة الغرفة تحت تصرف Tdh، والتي تبلغ مساحتها حوالي 18 متراً مربعاً. تم تصميم الغرفة لاستيعاب الأطفال من جميع الأعمار، لتكون بمثابة مكان للراحة والقراءة وأداء الأنشطة واللعب، فضلا عن مكان يمكن استخدامه في المستقبل لأنشطة دعم النفس الاجتماعي.
إن الباب شفاف لضمان رقابة الأهل المستمرة ومنع أي نوع من سوء المعاملة. ألوان الجدران مناسبة لراحة الطفل، مع رسومات ترفيهية عليها. تم تجهيز الغرفة بحزمة مساعدات طبية وكتب تعليمية (باللغات الثلاث: العربية والإنكليزية والفرنسية) وألعاب تعليمية وقرطاسية من الرسم وأنشطة الحرف اليدوية وما إلى ذلك.
